It was a bright week for area baseball teams on the diamond, even if the rain kept falling.

Central Kitsap, Olympic and Klahowya each won two games this week.

CK (8-3) followed up Wednesday’s 15-1 drubbing of Mount Tahoma with a 13-0 non-league win against Timberline.

In Thursday’s win against Timberline, CK crushed five homers, with Drew Vettleson blasting two. Vettleson finished the week 7-of-8 with six RBI, while Caleb Brown, who crushed a homer more than 400 feet Thursday, combined to go 5-for-8 with three RBI and a pair of doubles. Glen Hewey (3-for-4, HR, 3B, 4 RBI) also had a nice two-game set.

Olympic stayed atop the Oly League with a win Monday against North Mason 4-2. Starter Riley Crow improved to 4-0 in the win.

In that game, both Bryan Deszell and Zach Bird went 1-3 with an RBI while Jordan Halstead, Crow and Tyler Marshall each went 1-2.

Wednesday, the Trojans secured their place atop the Oly League with a come-from-behind 4-3 win against Bremerton.

The Knights went up 3-0 with a three-run third inning. It wasn’t until the seventh inning that Oly scored all four of its runs for the win. Marshall batted 2-4 in the game while Halstead was 3-4 with an RBI double.

As for Klahowya, the Eagles did kick off the week with a tough non-league loss, falling 3-0 to WR Myers, a team from Taber, Alberta, Canada, on Sunday in a make-up of a rainout from last Friday.

The Eagles rebounded however with an 8-7 win against North Mason Tuesday and a 7-5 win at Port Townsend Thursday.

The Eagles win against North Mason was probably closer than it should have been, as Klahowya built a 7-2 lead through five innings.

The Eagles held off the Bulldogs however thanks to the offensive efforts of Rusty Devitt (2-4, HR 3 RBI) and Tony Livick (2-3, HR, 2 RBI). Seth Green was 2-4 with an RBI in the win.
