Biketoberfest returns to Port Gamble

PORT GAMBLE — Sept. 29 marks the return of Biketoberfest.

The Evergreen Mountain Bike Alliance – West Sound Chapter’s annual celebration of bikes and beer will be rolling back into Port Gamble this weekend to greet fall with craft beer and mountain bikes.

Biketoberfest is set to kick off at 5 p.m. Friday, when sign-ups begin for the 6 p.m. night ride. Night riders are advised to bring their own light, but bike lights will also available for riders to borrow.

From 6-10 p.m. attendees will be able to enjoy the tunes of the Skinny Blue Band while wandering the beer garden, sampling the local fare and warming up at the bonfire. Free camping will also be available but for those who aren’t into the whole sleeping-outdoors thing, discounted room rates can be found at the Poulsbo Inn & Suites.

On Saturday, registration for the Triple D-XC race will be from 8-9:45 a.m. with the race starting at 10:15 a.m.

Registration for the poker run will be from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. with the race starting at 11 a.m. Also starting at 11 a.m., the beer garden will be serving up craft brews from local breweries like Sound Brewery, Valhöll Brewing, Silver City Brewery & Taproom, Bushel & Barrel Ciderhouse, Bainbridge Brewing, Downpour Brewing, Hood Canal Brewery, and Rainy Daze Brewing.

The all-age barrel races will take place from 1:30-2 p.m., followed by the race medal ceremony at 2 p.m. and even more events, like the “Huffy toss” and the “Huck to Flat.” At 5 p.m. Garage Heroes will take the stage to finish out the night until the beer garden closes at 8 p.m. Free camping will also be available on Saturday as well.
