Bainbridge Island GoldenEagles Soar to state championships

The Bainbridge Island Golden Eagles have soared their way into the record books. Athletes from Poulsbo and Bainbridge Island combined their hardwood talent to secure two gold medal wins at a recent regional competition in Bremerton. The two teams will move on to the state competition in Wenatchee. The is the first time in about 10 years the team has made it to the state competition.

The Bainbridge Island Golden Eagles have soared their way into the record books. The team skills competed against four other teams in double-elimination games. The Golden Eagles beat the Bremerton BKATS 88-87 in overtime, and secured a trip to state by beating the TC Slam Dunkers 121-119 in triple overtime. The team consists of Rebecca Nickel, Barbara Sundquist, Hannah LaCelle, William Kelly and William Connor. The head coach is Tiffany Kleiven.

The Masters 7 team competed against seven other teams in double-elimination style games to take the gold medal. The Golden Eagles beat the SK Patriots 34-4 in the first game, beat the Vancouver Trailblazers 38-8 and earned the gold with a 46-6 win over the Vancouver Blue Sonics. The Masters 7 players are Taylor Anderson, George Miller II, Spencer Leet, Noah and Moses Holmgren, Mathew Moeller and Bonar Johnson. The head coach is Adam Kleiven.
