The Bainbridge Spartan golf team performed exceptionally well at the 2A state tournament, with the girls placing second and the boys placing third as a team.
The Spartan girls earned 68.5 points as a team at the 2A state tournament held at Tumwater Valley Golf Club, finishing only behind first-place Mark Morris, which earned 80.5 points. The Spartan boys totalled 90.5 points at the 2A state tournament at Riverside Golf Club in Chehalis, behind only first-place Pullman at 106 and second-place Washougal at 102.
For the girls, Spartan senior Grace Charintranont tied for fourth place individually with a score of 157 over two rounds. Spartan senior Sara Kriegh placed ninth overall with a score of 164.
For the boys, Spartan junior Anderson Wicklund tied for seventh overall with a score of 155, while senior Andrew Jobes placed sixteenth overall with a score of 158. Senior Dane Byers finished 27th with a score of 164, while junior Samuel Patterson and freshman Samuel Hodus finished 29th with a score of 165.
Other Kitsap girls performed well in the 2A tournament, including junior Chelsea Bevan of Olympic, who finished 12th with a score of 168, and senior Calia-Tessie Corden of North Kitsap, who tied for 16th with a score of 176.
In the 3A boys state tournament at Qualchan Golf Course in Spokane, Central Kitsap freshman Davis Mills had an impressive showing by finishing tied for 17th with a score of 152. Only one other freshman finished above him. In the 3A girls state tournament at Indian Canyon Golf Course in Spokane, CK junior Courtney Yee finished tied for 47th with a score of 186.
In the 1A girls state tournament at Liberty Lake Golf Course, Klahowya freshman Emmie Cashmore placed ninth overall with a score of 177. In the 1A boys state tournament, also at Liberty Lake, Klahowya junior Eddia Hazama finished tied for 21st with a score of 169.
