Athlete of the Week: Brianna Hoffman, North Kitsap girls swimming

Brianna Hoffman

Brianna Hoffman had a difficult 2019, but things were looking up as the year came to a close.

In January, Hoffman found she had a herniated disc in her back. She forged on through the spring softball season and was a part of North Kitsap’s run at the 2A state tournament. She then spent the summer recuperating, but suffered a small setback after a minor rear-end car accident.

Hoffman’s times in the pool this fall were below normal for her, but when the state meet rolled around in November, she was ready to go. After finishing fourth in the state preliminary race in the 200-yard freestyle, Hoffman was able to take four seconds off her time in the finals and capture her second consecutive state championship.
