WSDOT’s lie just more bureaucratic arrogance

Published 2:52 pm Thursday, December 2, 2010

The arrogance of those state estabished to “serve” us is on display again.

As your blog (“Three years after bridge was built, the lying continues,” Nov. 26)accurately reported, the Washington State Department of Transportation has a vested interest in making sure its photo-tolling scheme is adopted on the Tacoma Narrows Bridge, and isn’t going to take no for an answer — least of all from the people whose will it trampled to build the bridge in the first place.

Never mind the state hasn’t even figured out how the plan will work. Never mind it could cost more to administer than it will save to eliminate the tollbooths.

All WSDOT knows is that it wants photo-tolling on (Seattle’s) 520 bridge.

Which means it has to be tried out first on the Narrows. No matter what.

When you’ve already decided what you want trumps what the public wants, telling a few lies to get it just seems like the cost of doing business.
