Moffatt and Martinez for North Kitsap School Board

I strongly endorse Nancy Moffatt and Breane Martinez for NK School Board. Both have been strong supporters of our schools and understand that the function of a board is to set strategic direction and let the superintendent lead the district to achieve those goals, plus manage the day-to-day activities.

Nancy was NKSD’s financial director for many years before assuming leadership responsibilities in Olympia. Her financial acumen and experience would be the envy of any district. Recently retired, Nancy now has the energy and passion to support NKSD.

Breane is a physical therapist and mother of two children who attend NKSD in elementary school. Breane recently served as president of Kingston Rotary and lead the club through a strategic visioning session. The club used the strategic plan to help direct their energy towards goals that the membership established as important.

In my role as Kitsap County Treasurer, I sometimes see school boards make it very difficult for administrators to strategically lead their districts. It is important to have board members who understand the district’s strategic goals and who know that it is their job to hire a superintendent to implement those goals.

We are fortunate that people as competent as Nancy Moffatt and Breane Martinez volunteer to run for school board. They deserve your vote and ongoing support. Our schools are hugely important for the future of our children and community.
