Virginia Beach Hoyte left this world peacefully on May 19, 2021 at the age of 95. She was born in 1925 to Frank Loomis and Mary Elizabeth Beach in Portland, OR and spent most of her formative years growing up in Southern California with her two sisters Sally Altick & Nancy Johnson. She graduated Phi Beta Kappa from Wellesley College and taught English for a year in Istanbul, Turkey after WWII. Virginia married Eric Hoyte in 1958 and moved to Seattle where they had three children Roland, Helena & Derek. Her husband Eric passed away in 2018 after 60 years together and a lifetime of adventures and world travels together. Virginia was passionate about the arts, the environment, justice, women and children and supported many causes through her philanthropy. She loved literature, the outdoors, camping and kayaking which she shared with her many friends and family. She is survived by her sister Nancy, her three children, seven grandchildren and two great grandchildren. A private gathering will be held to celebrate her life.
