Thelma J. Rauschenberger, 66

Thelma Joan Shumaker Rauschenberger of Poulsbo died Jan. 29, 2004 in Poulsbo. She was 66.

Rauschenberger was born to Clyde S. and Thelma Grace (Patterson) Shumaker in New Castle, Pa. on Sept. 13, 1937.

Rauschenberger married Glenn William Rauschenberger on Thanksgiving Day in 1959.

She graduated from Butler High School in Butler, Pa. in 1955. She graduated from Denison University in 1959.

During college, Rauschenberger worked as a teller at Mellon National Bank. Following graduation, she taught music at schools in Upper St. Clair Township and Mars, Pa. She also worked as the Butler County Law Librarian.

After the family moved to Poulsbo in 1979, Rauschenberger became active in the local Order of Rainbow for Girls, a member of Chapter #235 of the Order of the Eastern Star and the parents club of the H.K. White Chapter of the Order of DeMolay.

Rauschenberger is survived by son Mark Rauschenberger of Rockford, Ill.; daughter Ann Cheney of Seattle; brother John Shumaker of Grantville, Pa.; and sister Jane Glennie of Granville, Ohio.

Rauschenberger was preceded in death by her husband Glenn William Rauschenberger and parents Clyde S. and Thelma Grace (Patterson) Shumaker.

A visitation will be held from 1-3 p.m. Feb 7-8 at the Thompson-Miller Funeral Home in Butler, Pa.

A celebration of life and interment will take place from 1-3 p.m. Feb. 7-8 at Butler County Memorial Park.

Lewis Funeral Chapel and Thompson-Miller Funeral Home are taking care of the funeral arrangements.

The family requests in lieu of flowers, memorial gifts be made to the local hospice or to a charity of the donor’s choice.
