Ray W. Peacoe

March 17, 1942 - September 9, 2020

Ray W. Peacoe, resident of Bainbridge Island, WA for 30 years, was born on March 17, 1942, at Allegheny General Hospital in Pittsburgh, PA. He met his wife Janet in 1961 at Westminster College in New Wilmington, PA. His first career was as a middle school biology teacher, and while he spent most of his working years as a human resources executive, he truly enjoyed learning, teaching and sharing knowledge and expertise throughout his entire life. He lived with cancer for eleven years, and brought his characteristic charm, humor, and kindness to all who contributed to his care and treatment. He was unfailingly positive and extraordinarily generous.

He absolutely adored his wife and family, and never hesitated to make sure they knew that. He leaves this sad crew behind: wife Jan; son Ray (Skip) Peacoe and his wife Karen of Sugar Land, TX; daughter Tracey Peacoe Denlinger and her husband Jim of Bainbridge Island, WA; grandchildren Julia and Sam (Bainbridge Island) and Stephen, Lauren, and William in Texas; sister Dannie Kennedy; nephews Jesse and Joshua Kennedy; and niece Eliza Kennedy.

A celebration of Ray’s life will be held at a later date, when friends and family can gather safely. If you’d like, make a donation in his memory to Fred Hutch Institute for Prostate Cancer Research or a charity of your choosing. Better yet, honor Ray’s memory by going scuba diving or playing golf with someone you love.

During his final weeks, he wrote the following obituary.
