Peter L. Joe, 59

Peter Lawrence Joe of Suquamish died Dec. 20, 2003 in Seattle. He was 59.

He was born to Wilson and Bella (Watts) Joe in Port Alberni, British Columbia on Oct. 9, 1944.

Joe married Geraldine J. Ross on Oct. 9, 1976 in Burien.

He attended Seattle Community College.

Joe worked for DSHS of Seattle/Belltown for 14 years as an outreach worker for the homeless and Native American people.

He was a member of the Chief Seattle Club, manufacturing his own frames for family photos and making various Native American art works. He was Catholic.

Joe is survived by his wife Geraldine J. (Ross) Joe; sons Willie F. Joe of Suquamish, Joey A. Joe of Yakima and stepson Marcus Montana; daughters Kippie S. (Carlos) Virella of Indianola, Joann C. Joe of Indianola and Petrina J. Joe of Indianola; brother Douglas Robinson of Port Alberni, British Columbia; sisters Eunice Joe and Angeline Joe of Sarita Bay, British Columbia and Matilda Mitchell of Seattle; and 13 grandchildren.

Joe was preceded in death by sisters Elizabeth Tatoosh, Mamie Wilson and Nancy Mack; and brothers Herbert, John Henry, Tommy and Joe.

Visitation will be from noon to 7 p.m. Dec. 26 at the Stone Chapel at Cherry Grove, 22272 Foss Rd. NE, Poulsbo. A Rosary will be held at 7 p.m. Dec. 26 at the Stone Chapel. A funeral mass will take place at 10 a.m. Dec. 27 at St. Olaf’s Catholic Church in Poulsbo. An interment will take place at Suquamish Cemetery. Memorial donations can be made to the Chief Seattle Club, 419 Occidental Ave. Suite 508, Seattle, WA 98104.Arrangements are under the direction of The Stone Chapel.
