Peter Battaglia, beloved father, grandfather, brother, husband, ex-husband and golf partner, died peacefully at his son’s home in Seattle on March 26, 2022. Peter was born April 17, 1936 in Amsterdam, NY to Stephen and Marion Battaglia. Peter attended St. Mary’s Institute and later attended college at Villanova (Go Wildcats!) before joining the Army in 1959. Stationed at Fort Lewis, Peter met his first wife Patricia, and together they raised children Andrea (Markstone) and Paul. After his honorable discharge from the Army, Peter worked in the produce industry, as his father had before him. His early work hours allowed Peter to be active in his kids’ lives, coaching sports teams and cooking delicious dinners, including his famous deep crust pizzas. After family, Peter’s passion was golf. Peter enjoyed playing with groups of good friends, and maybe winning a bet or two, most recently at McCormick Woods in Port Orchard. Along the way, Peter amassed an incredible six hole-in-ones! In 1997 Peter remarried to Diane Benjamin who he loved dearly. Diane predeceased Peter in 2018. Peter is survived by his daughter Andrea; son Paul; grandchildren Casey, Jackson, Sophia, CJ and Will; sister Annette (Larry) Browning and brother Stephen (Beverly) Battaglia. Rest in Peace, Peter. We love you, and we will miss you. No memorial services are currently planned. Peter will be inurned at the Tahoma National Cemetery.
