Paul E. Tornensis, 55

Former Poulsbo resident Paul E. “Moose” Tornensis died Dec. 23, 2003 in Kent. He was 55.

Tornensis was born to Patricia and Paul Tornensis in Poulsbo. He was the great-grandson of Poulsbo founding father Halvor Svenson and lived most of his life in Poulsbo.

He married Myra Bergeson in 1976 and then Rebecca Adams in 2001.

Tornensis attended North Kitsap High School.

In the early 1970s, he moved to Arizona were he worked as a private investigator and immediately earned the nickname “Mooseix” for himself. He later returned to Poulsbo and worked in construction and eventually owned his own company in Quilcene.

Tornensis was a member of the Vinland Lutheran Church. He is remembered as a man who always had a smile on his face and made friends everywhere. He had many talents, including his Elvis impressions.

Tornensis is survived by his wife Rebecca of Tacoma; son Paul M. Tornensis of Discovery Bay; step-sons Vince James of Spanaway and Richard James of Tacoma; step-daughter Kate Galarza of Port Orchard; sister Patsy Rhoe of Kent; and four grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his daughter Allison, parents Patricia and Paul Tornensis and grandmother Hilda M. (Svenson) Ubbesen.

A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Jan. 10, 2004 at the Quilcene Church.

Memorials may be made to the “Allison Tornensis Scholarship Fund” for Quilcene High School through US Bank.
