Patricia L. Foote, 68
Patricia L. Foote, a resident of Port Orchard, died in her home Nov. 6. She was 68.
Foote was born in Shelton on June 11, 1940 to Duane and Evelyn (Heyer) Ryan. She married the would-be executive director of United Way of Kitsap David L. Foote in Hastings, Mich. on Aug. 25, 1975.
Foote graduated from Stadium High School in Tacoma in 1958 and received an Associate’s Degree in Child Development from Grand Valley State College in 1981. She worked as a Child Care Administrator until her retirement in 2000 and was a devoted Naval Officer’s wife from 1975 to 1996.
She is a past member of Kiwanis and the Presbyterian Church; past president of ROWA and past Grand Ya-Ya of the Ya-Ya Sisterhood. She enjoyed knitting, sewing, was an avid reader and master gardener and a loving wife and guardian angel.
She is survived by her loving husband, David; sons John Johnson, Jr. (Kate) of Temecula, Calif, Cash Smallwood (Natalie) of Pasco, Christopher Foote (Cristy) of Scottsdale, Ariz., and Matthew Foote of Phoenix, Ariz.; daughters Eve Brothers (Mark) of Hartland, Wisc., Janet Crandall (Carter) of Hertford, NC; brothers Mike and Danny Ryan of Port Orchard and Tom Ryan of Puyallup; Cathie Locicero of NM, Lura Sheahan (Larry) of Steilacoom and Shauna Peterson of Tacoma; grandchildren Brynn and Narina Brothers, Taylor Johnson, Connor Crandall, Haley and Tegan Smallwood and Gillian Foote.
A celebration of life will be today at 1 p.m. at Rill’s Life Tribute Center in Port Orchard. Memorial donations may be made in her name to United Way or a favorite charity. Online guest book is at www.rill.com.
William (Bill) Gross, 84
Bill Gross, 84, of Bremerton died at home Nov. 6 after suffering a heart attack.
He was born Dec. 19, 1923 in Yoncalla Ore. to William and Maude Gross. He graduated Yoncalla High School in 1942 and moved to Bremerton to start an electrician apprentice program at P.S.N.S.
Gross served in the Navy in the South Pacific during World War II. He returned to work at P.S.N.S. for 36 years, retiring as an Electrical Supervisory Equipment Specialist.
He fell in love with Lorraine Shelly and they were married in 1948. They enjoyed spending time at “the lake” and traveling by R.V. When at home, he watched sports on his big screen TV.
He is survived by Lorraine, his wife of 60 years and their three children: Julie Ann Danielson (Ray) of Silverdale, Bill Gross (Rise) of Poulsbo, Roger Gross of Sequim; four grandchildren: Will Gross (Marie) of Port Orchard, Christina Gross of Poulsbo, Matthew Gross of Poulsbo and Michael Gross who is presently serving an LDS mission in Phoenix, Ariz; two great grandchildren: Isabella Gross and William (Liam) Gross of Port Orchard.
