Nancy L. Pace

April 26, 1931 - August 31, 2021

On August 31, 2021, Nancy L. Pace, 90, passed away peacefully in her sleep at home on Bainbridge Island.

Nancy was born in Des Moines, IA, in 1931. Nancy moved to Renton, WA with her parents during the war years and graduated from Renton High School in 1949. She joined the Allstate Insurance Company and shortly thereafter at work met her future husband and love of her life, Gene Pace. Nancy and Gene were married at the Methodist Church in downtown Seattle in December 1952. In 1956, Nancy had the first of her three children and was a proud stay-at-home mother while raising her family.

During the years prior to Gene’s retirement in 1990, Nancy was instrumental in selecting a Bellevue style “Street of Dreams” home design as the basis for their waterfront retirement home built on the property Gene had lived as a child on Manzanita Bay. Nancy treasured the wonderful years there, before Nancy and Gene moved 4 years ago to their final home Nancy affectionately dubbed “The Cabin” with views of Seattle from Rockaway Beach.

Always on the go, Nancy spent countless hours as a dedicated volunteer at the Children’s Hospital Bargain Boutique, and just as many hours tending her Battle Point Park Zinnia pea-patch flower garden. Nancy took much pleasure working in her garden and sharing cut flowers with everyone. Nancy thoroughly embraced the Bainbridge Island lifestyle and had an artistic flair. On the weekends, Nancy and her girlfriends would seek out treasures at local garage sales. Her outgoing nature led to many life-long friendships.

Nancy enjoyed experimenting with recipes from her cookbook collection and delighted in entertaining family and friends. At the end of the day, Nancy could be found relaxing with her Dachshund Schatzie on her lap. Always putting others first, Nancy leaves us rich in memories.

Preceded in death by her parents Charles and Bertha Irene Brown, and brother Alan Brown. Nancy is survived by her husband Gene Pace; brother Carl Brown (Shirley); children Stephen Pace (Deborah); Scott Pace (Kathy); Susan Newton (David); and grandchildren Joshua Newton and Taylor Newton. Nancy is home with God. At Nancy’s request, there will be no service. Nancy asked, please no tears. Instead, buy yourself some flowers and enjoy their beauty!
