Nancy Elaine Kimzey

May 30, 1934 - February 22, 2021

Nancy Elaine Kimzey, 86, passed away February 22nd, 2021 peacefully at home in Ocean Shores, WA

She was born in Warren, PA to Quentin Wolfe and Mae Renyolds.

After graduating from the University of Georgia, Nancy volunteered for the Peace Corps from 1962-1964 and that is where she met her husband, Tom Kimzey. They married in Florianopolis, Brazil on November 21st, 1964. They moved to Seattle in 1968 where they started a family before moving to Bainbridge Island, WA in 1976. On Bainbridge she helped run the family farm, started a day care, was co-founder of the Bainbridge Island Farmer’s Market, and pursued her passion of teaching English as a second language.

In retirement, she and her husband owned and operated the Ocean Shores Electric Boat Company, volunteered in the community, and maintained several rental properties.

Nancy will be remembered as a warm, generous, and caring wife and mother who was also a teacher, volunteer, business owner, and homemaker. She loved learning about and meeting new people from different cultures. She was a polite and engaged conversationalist who helped many believe in themselves and realize their potential. She was the “2nd mom” to all the children in her day care.

Nancy is survived by her husband of 56 years, Tom, her sons Lee, Joe (Stefanie), Garrett (Karen), and her grandkids Charlie, Allie, and Garrett.

Gatherings to celebrate Nancy’s life will take place when Covid restrictions ease.
