Marty Benner, 70

Marty Benner of Indianola died Dec. 21, 2004. She was 70.

Benner was born in Spokane on Sept. 8, 1934.

She married George D. Benner on Sept. 20, 1968.

Benner was the co-owner of Spuds Fish and Chips in Juanita Beach in Kirkland for 23 years. She was also a bookkeeper for Bay Plumbing in Suquamish for eight years.

Benner enjoyed knitting, crocheting and reading. She was the chairperson for the Juanita Days Parade in Kirkland during the 1970s. She was also the vice-president of the Juanita Business Association.

Benner is survived by her husband George of Indianola; sons Mark (Mary) Makinson of Klamath, Ore. and Marvin “Buck” Makinson of Redmond, Ore.; daughters Julie (Michael) Bayle of Everett, Joan (Rick) Yardley of Irragon, Ore., Susan Benner of Seattle, Heather Cooke of Brier, Valarie (Michael) Gilstrap of Lynwood, Rosemary Benner of Everett and Penny Benner of Everett; 14 grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

She was preceded in death by her daughter Marian ‘Kay” Malone and sisters Mary and Randy.

A memorial service was held on Dec. 27 at the Stone Chapel in Poulsbo. Cremation took place at Cherry Grove in Poulsbo.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial donations be made to the Kitsap Humane Society, 9167 Dickey Road NW, Silverdale, WA, 98383.
