Lois Porter, 73

Former North Kitsap resident Lois Porter died March 27, 2006 in Las Vegas, Nev. She was 73.

Porter was born Dec. 18, 1932 to Ruby and Bennie George Jr.

She graduated from North Kitsap High School in 1951.

She married Jimmie Porter on Aug. 17, 1951.

She worked for Blossom Brothers Logging and Construction Company in Suquamish. After her husband’s enlistment in the U.S. Navy, they moved to Conaga Park, Calif., where she worked for Hughes Aircraft in Conaga Park. After the couple retired, they moved to Havasu Lake, Calif.

She was loved by her family and many friends. She was a Suquamish Tribal Elder.

She is survived by her husband Jimmie Porter; daughters Arlene (Brian) McElory of Simi Valley, Calif., Ruby Crawford of Lon Puc, Calif. and Cathy Coleman of Woodland Hills, Calif.; brother Donald (Merrilee) George of Bellevue; mother Ruby George; eight grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and several uncles, aunts, nieces, nephews and cousins.

She was preceded in death by her father and her sister Carolyn Mock.

Memorial services will be held April 23 in Havasu Lake, Calif.
