Kim Planck

Sept. 2, 1959 – Dec. 21, 2019

Kim Marie Planck left us peacefully Dec. 21, 2019, as if finally laying down to sleep at the end of a very long day. She fought for years against what finally took her from us and even though her fire was brought from a roaring blaze down to a tiny ember, she refused for as long as she could to go out. She will always be remembered for that strength. Wife, mother, sister, daughter, grandmother, and best friend, Kim was an amazing and inspirational woman. She defined the word ‘Mom’ by living her whole life selflessly giving and making a home for others. She took care of her six brothers and sisters in her youth and later raised her own six children, but Kim also made her house a home to anyone who needed one. Family friends and family members had a soft place to land in the home Mom made.

Even with a busy house of husband, kids, extra guests and a parade of pets, Kim had more to give and began serving her community at our local food bank. For 13 years she worked to make sure that no no other home be without food and resources, often driving for hours to collect donations, finding new sources for fundraising, and spending long hours unloading trucks and stocking shelves herself. It was one of her greatest joys to serve in that ministry.

Life was cut short for Kim. She would’ve loved nothing more than to keep being Mom. She always had something cooking on the stove or baking in the oven, she loved being at her kids’ and grandkids’ games, shows, and concerts. She loved crafting and gardening and reading to her grandchildren. She loved family dinners and family trips. She gave so much love to so many people and she will be missed by all whose life she touched. Memorial plans are being made and will be announced at a later date.
