Kaare Jacobson

Kaare Pleim Jacobson was born on June 16, 1929 in Borup, MN to Hansine Lee and Andreas (Eivind) Jacobson. He went home to Heaven to be with his Lord and Savior on December 15, 2020.

Kaare at age 5 moved from Perley, MN with his family to Poulsbo, Washington. He graduated from North Kitsap Senior High School in the class of 1947. Following high school he worked on a floating fish trap in Ketchikan, Alaska and also worked for his Uncle Richard Lee commercial fishing for tuna out of San Pedro, California. In 1950 he joined the U.S. Air Force and served with the 814th Air Police Squadron and was honorably discharged in 1954.

On June 23, 1961 he married Bonnie Rae Jacob at the First Lutheran Church in Poulsbo. On October 31, 1962 they welcomed their daughter Kirsten, in February of 1966 they welcomed a second daughter Astrid who passed away shortly after birth and on November 2, 1967 they welcomed their son Kyle. His wife Bonnie passed away in July of 1978 from complications of Diabeties.

Following his military service he went to work as a shipwright at the Puget Sound Naval Shipyard in Bremerton, Washington and retired in 1984. In 1988 he returned to work as a janitor for NET Systems on Bainbridge Island, Washington for the next 10 plus years.

Upon retirement he made a trip to Norway where he was able to visit family and see the Country his parents immigrated from. He also enjoyed a trip to Israel to tour the Holy Land.

Kaare was a lifelong member of First Lutheran Church in Poulsbo where he taught Sunday school, served on the Board of Elders and as an usher. He also volunteered at the church’s annual lutefisk dinner and many other activities over the years.

Kaare was preceded in death by his parents, wife Bonnie and sister Solveig Downs. He is survived by his daughter Kirsten (Stan) Schilling, son Kyle Jacobson and grandson Aaron Jacobson as well as many extended family members.

A private burial was made with his immediate family.
