Joseph H. Gnos, 90

Poulsbo resident Joseph H. Gnos died April 1, 2004 in Poulsbo. He was 90.

He was born to Anton and Margaret (Leonard) Gnos in Cornelius, Ore. on March 16, 1914.

Gnos married Eva K. Perry on Aug. 14, 1938 in Hillsboro, Ore.

He graduated from the public school system in Oregon and from Oregon State University in Corvalis, Ore. in 1936.

Gnos worked as a high school teacher for North Kitsap High School until his retirement in 1975. He taught agriculture and horticulture.

He was a member of the Meadowmeer Golf and Country Club and the Monday Morning Men group at First Lutheran Church of Poulsbo. He enjoyed gardening, attending his son and grandsons’ ball games and was involved in establishing the North Kitsap Little League Park. He was a Lutheran.

Gnos is survived by his son Perry (Carol) Gnos of Long Branch, N.J.; daughter Shirley (Pete) Hill of Poulsbo; sister Frances of Oregon; four grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his wife Eva K. (Perry) Gnos.

Services will be held at 10 a.m. April 7 at the First Lutheran Church of Poulsbo. Cremation arrangements are under the direction of Stone Chapel at Cherry Grove in Poulsbo.
