Jerry Alan Deardorff

April 15, 1936 – July 19, 2018

Jerry Alan Deardorff, 82, lost his battle with Alzheimer’s on July 19, 2018 at The Arbor memory care facility in Bremerton, WA. Jerry was born in 1936 in Astoria, OR, but was a life-long resident of Kitsap County. He grew up in Central Valley and went to Central Kitsap Schools before graduating from North Kitsap High School in 1954. He served in the National Guard and was honorably discharged from the US Air Force in 1960. He graduated from the University of Washington in 1966 and was the first in his family to earn a college degree. Jerry taught art and math at North Kitsap Middle School for 25 years. Jerry was an avid artist and talented photographer, painter and potter. He enjoyed fishing, camping, traveling and golfing.

He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Janet Deardorff and his 2 children and their partners, Molly Deardorff and John Stejer of Everett, WA; and Chris and Julie Deardorff of Poulsbo, WA. He is also survived by his sister, Janice Anton of Bremerton, WA. He had three grandchildren: Kayla Deardorff, and Erika and Allison Courtney. He is preceded in death by everyone that died before him, most recently his brother John Deardorff of Port Orchard, WA.
