Jacob Richard Shotwell

Jacob Richard Shotwell, 14

Former Kitsap County resident Jacob Richard Shotwell died April 6, 2004 in Durham, N.C. He was 14.

Shotwell was born to Luz Saunders and Steve Shotwell in Bremerton on March 7, 1990.

While living in Bremerton, he attended Naval Avenue and Crown Hill schools. In 1998, he moved to Charlotte, N.C., where he attended Kennedy Middle School.

He was born immune suppressed and underwent various treatments at Children’s Hospital in Seattle, Hemby Children’s Hospital in Charlotte, N.C. and Duke University Medical Center in Durham, N.C.

Shotwell loved life and people. He was a talented artist and loved to play video games. He was a “prankster” and had a great sense of humor.

Shotwell is survived by his father Steve (Melody) Shotwell of Hansville; mother Luz Saunders of Charlotte, N.C.; brother Najee and his father Tony Langley of Charlotte, N.C.; stepbrothers and stepsisters Michelle, Cameron, Jon, Crystal, Kayla and Nicole, all of Hansville; Aunt Stacie (Chris) Schmechel of Mountain View, Calif.; and grandparents Frank and Gina Shotwell of Bremerton.

A celebration of life will be held May 16 at the Hansville Community Center at Buck Lake County Park.

There will be services April 17 in Charlotte, N.C.
