Helen M Valentine, 86, passed peacefully on December 13, 2018. During the last three years of her life she resided at Stafford at Ridgemont Skilled Nursing Facility in Port Orchard, WA.

Helen was born on April 20, 1932 in Brainerd, MN to Oliver J and Rose M (LaFond) Belland. She married Clarence J Valentine on April 28, 1952 in St. Paul, MN. Shortly thereafter, they moved to Stockton, CA and started their family. Widowed in 1968, Helen and her children relocated to Port Orchard in 1972.

Helen was a homemaker. She loved all animals, especially dogs, raising poodles for many years. She also enjoyed oil painting, doll making, writing poetry, gardening, and was an avid reader.

Helen is survived by her children Donald (Sandra), Lumberton, NC; Jayne, Port Orchard; and Janette, Spokane, WA. Grandchildren: Tony, Brian (Renee), Daniel (Sheri), and Kristi. Great grandchildren: Nikita, Evan, Gavin, and Thomas. Further survived by her sister Adeline, and numerous nieces and nephews.

Helen was preceded in death by her parents, husband, and son Douglas; brothers Oliver “Sonny” and Harold “Jimmy;” sisters Margaret, Elizabeth, Catherine, Sophie, Rose, and Mary.
