Fred Morton

Fred Trueman Morton of Seabeck died June 1, 2007, at his home. He was 63.

Mr. Morton was born on April 1, 1944, in Washington, D.C. to Jean and Callison Morton. He graduated from Port Townsend High School in 1962. He married Karyn Lackman in 1975.

After graduation, Mr. Morton joined the U.S. Marine Corp, serving two years aboard the USS Kitty Hawk. The remainder of his time in the Marine Corp was spent in Vietnam.

After his discharge, Mr. Morton attended Central Washington University, graduating with a degree in special education. He began teaching in the Bremerton School District in 1973 and remained there until he retired in 2004. He worked for the North Kitsap School District as a special education teacher until March 2007.

Mr. Morton is survived by his wife Karyn; mother-in-law Shirley Lackman; father-in-law Ernest (Suzanne) Lackman; sisters-in-law Bette Lackman, Janette (Charles) Engle; nieces Molly (Adam) Lynch, Jerri Lindley; nephews Tommy Lynch and Alec Trueman Lynch; and many loving friends.
