Elizabeth Giblett

Elizabeth “Liz” Leila Giblett of Suquamish died Feb. 11 at Harrison Medical Center in Bremerton. She was 52.
Giblett was born in Seattle in 1956 as one of a pair of twins. She is preceded in death by her twin, her mother and father and two other siblings. Giblett spent some time in the Navy and was stationed in Hawaii were she loved to body surf. She was an avid downhill skier and loved the outdoors. In recent years, Giblett was seen around Bainbridge Island delivering the mail, playing with her dog Jocko, and generally enjoying life on beautiful Bainbridge. Giblett dreamed of returning to the family homeland, Australia.
Adoree Marlene Tucker, 78
Adoree Marlene (Wilken) Tucker died Feb. 13 at Harrison Medical Center in Bremerton from a cerebral vascular accident. She was 78.
Tucker was born in Bremerton at the old Harrison Hospital on Jan. 24, 1931. She was raised in Keyport by her parents, Berthold “Bert,” and Aimee (Jensen) Wilken on property given to them by Aimee’s mother, Anna Jensen, an early homesteader of the area. Tucker graduated from Union High School in Poulsbo in 1948. She attended business college in Bremerton and worked at Bremer’s Department Store and the Keyport Torpedo Station before getting married at the Keyport Church to James “Jim” Carles Tucker in 1952.
They purchased their first home on Miller Bay near Indianola before they moved to California’s Central Valley to be near Jim’s parents. After returning to Washington in 1960, they raised their four children in the house on Miller Bay, spending summers at their cabin on Tiger Lake in north Mason County. They owned and operated James Tucker Painting, a painting contractor business, near Evergreen Park in Bremerton until Jim’s untimely death in 1974. Tucker worked as a bookkeeper for several local companies until her retirement in 1993. She continued to live in her Miller Bay home until health issues required her to move to Martha & Mary in Poulsbo in September 2008.
Tucker was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary from birth and very active into the 1970’s. Tucker was interred in a private ceremony at the Island Lake Cemetery, where many of her family members are laid to rest, including her husband, parents, son, and maternal grandmother.
She is survived by her children, Debbie Tucker and her partner Ray Long of San Carlos, Calif., Brian Tucker and his wife Sue of Poulsbo, Michael Tucker and his partner Mark Nass of Poulsbo, and Kim Castillo and her husband Hector of San Diego, Calif.; six grandchildren and several great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband Jim, her parents Bert and Aimee, her brother Belden Wilken, her infant son David, and great-grandson Carl.
There will be a memorial service at 2 p.m. April 18 in the chapel at Martha & Mary (19160 Front Street, Poulsbo). In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Martha & Mary by calling (360) 394-4004.
