Village Green improves sound, stage at center

The Village Green Foundation has made a big impact this year by partnering with the Village Green Metropolitan Park District to complete the acoustical treatment in the community center’s gym.

The decreased noise levels are much appreciated, and the space’s versatility has greatly improved.

The foundation also funded the replacement of the stage. The original structure, although it served us well for seven years, was difficult to move; the new version is light and stores more compactly. There’s more to do to enhance our Village Green, and your gifts of time or money make that possible. Find out how to get involved at Tinyurl.com/HelpVillageGreen.

Upcoming events

Join us at the Blue Door Gala March 18 at 5 p.m. Proceeds support the important programs at our partner organization, the Boys & Girls Club of North Kitsap. Get your tickets at bgcsc.org/bluedoorgala.

There’s so much happening at the community center. Village Green Foundation Arts is hosting several events. The second in this year’s series of free heritage concerts celebrates Irish-American culture with a performance by Keltoi, a band performing Scottish and Irish dance music with soulful harmonies, on March 4 from 4-6 p.m. Every month on the third Thursday from 6-7 p.m. is Spoken Mic. Hosted by Susan Rodgers, it offers participants the chance to share poetry, prose or short stories.

Also, there is tax preparation help, along with classes for childbirth and parenting, finances, exercise and dance, cooking, music and art, and groups that play games, do crafts, have meetings and much more.
