POULSBO — Little Norway’s 20th annual Touch-A-Truck is racing into the Poulsbo Village this weekend for a horn-honkin’ day of learning and imagination. From 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, vehicles of all variations will be on display, their doors — and driver’s seats — open to anyone wanting to take a turn behind the wheel.

“It’s a fun time for kids to explore different kinds of vehicles,” said organizer and Village property manager Beverly Lyon. “It should be a good time for children of all ages.”

From a school bus and Kitsap Transit bus to fire trucks, police cars, a dump truck and cement mixer, the curious are welcome to meet the vehicles’ crews and indulge in some hands-on pretending.

The Poulsbo Noon Lions Club will be hosting a national health screening unit to provide free blood pressure, hearing and vision screenings, and Keyport Naval Undersea museum is set to show off a Navy dive boat with the help of its mascot, Boots.

Along with the usual moving van and tow truck, Wild Horse BBQ is sponsoring a covered wagon. Many of the vehicle crews will have handouts for visitors; cookies and soda will also be offered at the event, which is free.

For those wanting to check out the autos — or those wanting to patronize Village businesses — Lyon said plenty of parking will still be available.

“It should be a fun day,” she said. “I encourage everyone to come down and enjoy a free family event.”
