A longtime community staple is getting a fresh new look as St. Vincent de Paul Bremerton has officially rebranded its food bank and assistance office as the Neighborhood Market & Resource Center, offering a more accessible way for families to receive groceries and support.
The updated model replaces the traditional system of numbered tickets and boxed food distribution with a farmer’s market-style, self-shopping experience. Families now check in, grab a cart, and choose their own groceries from various stations, including fresh produce, dairy, meat, and dry goods.
SVdP Bremerton has also removed the barriers of showing ID and proof of address to provide a space where anyone can walk in and feel comfortable getting the help they need.
Guests fill out a simple registration form on their first visit and then only need to provide their name at future check-ins. Families may shop up to three times per month, on any day that works best for them.
The Neighborhood Market is open Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Fridays from 10:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. at 1117 N. Callow Ave.
The redesign also includes a dedicated shopping space for senior guests, funded by Kitsap Aging & Long-Term Care, to ensure older adults have safe and easy access to essential food items.
With decades of experience in food banking, SVdP Bremerton says the updated model is part of a broader commitment to improving dignity, equity, and access for all.
“We believe that by removing barriers and creating a more welcoming environment, we can better serve our neighbors in need,” the organization said in a statement.
