Red-light camera installed at 305/Bond intersection

30-day warning period begins Sept. 2

The city of Poulsbo and the Poulsbo Police Department announced Aug. 26 the launch of its new automated red-light camera enforcement program.

One camera has been installed at the intersection of Highway 305 at Bond Road. The program is expected to begin Sept. 2 with a 30-day warning period before citing violators. Vehicles caught running a red light during this time will receive a notice in the mail alerting them to their illegal act and reminding them to stay vigilant in this location, per a news release. Once citations begin Oct. 3, violators will incur fines of $145 for all red-light infractions.

The city previously launched two speed enforcement cameras – one in the fall of 2024 on Viking Way near Fish Park and one earlier this year near Poulsbo Elementary on Noll Road.

Verra Mobility is administering the safety program. The cameras will capture images of vehicle license plates and send them through secure video. Law enforcement will verify the infraction before a fine is issued, per the release.

“We want the public to know how seriously we take road safety for all drivers, pedestrians and road users,” said police chief Ron Harding. “This warning period will give our community plenty of time to change their driving behavior before risking fines. Please remember to slow down and always stop on red.”
