David Michael Kalac, accused of killing his girlfriend then posting images of the crime on an Internet website, will be arraigned on the murder charge at 2:30 p.m., today, Nov. 7, in Kitsap County Superior Court, according to the Kitsap County Sheriff’s Office.

He is the primary suspect into the Nov. 4 murder of 30-year-old Amber Lynn Coplin. Kalac, 33, was taken into custody, without incident, around 9 p.m. Nov. 5 by officers from the Wilsonville Police Department in Clackamas County, Ore.

The suspect was booked into the Multnomah County Jail, Portland, Ore., on a warrant of arrest for second-degree murder. The warrant was issued Wednesday out of Kitsap County Superior Court.

Bail amount of the warrant was set by the court at $2 million.

Kalac waived his extradition rights. Two Kitsap County Sheriff’s detectives took custody of the suspect Thursday in Portland and transported him to Washington.

A sheriff’s detective also took custody of the victim’s 2001 Ford Focus that had been stolen by the suspect and found abandoned by officers with the Portland Police Bureau early Wednesday evening. The vehicle was returned to Kitsap County Thursday and is in secure storage. Detectives have obtained a search warrant to enter the car to check for evidence.

Following an autopsy on the victim conducted Thursday by the county’s forensic pathologist, the Kitsap County Coroner reported that Coplin died from ligature strangulation and blunt force trauma to the head.
