South Kitsap Chamber appoints new executive director

The South Kitsap Chamber of Commerce has named Jaclyn Williams as its new executive director, following a leadership transition earlier this spring.

Williams, who has served as the chamber’s executive assistant for more than six years, was officially appointed to the role by the Board of Directors May 21. She had been overseeing daily operations in the interim after former executive director Cody Clark’s departure April 9.

“Jaclyn has served the chamber with dedication and distinction,” said Trinette Gates, board chair. “Her experience, proven leadership, and unwavering commitment to the South Kitsap community have clearly demonstrated that she is exceptionally well qualified to lead the organization into its next chapter.”

Now, as executive director, Williams will be responsible for advancing the chamber’s mission, enhancing member services, and strengthening the organization’s role in the local business community, per a news release.

“We are confident that under Jaclyn’s leadership, the chamber will continue to grow and expand its positive impact,” Gates said.

In her new role, Williams said she is excited to build on the chamber’s momentum while introducing fresh ideas and initiatives tailored to the needs of the South Kitsap business community.

“My top priority is to strengthen our local business community by expanding member engagement, shining a brighter spotlight on the Chamber’s work, and creating more opportunities for collaboration and growth with our community partners,” Williams said. “I aim to ensure that Chamber membership delivers real, lasting value while reinforcing the vital role our local businesses play in the overall success of South Kitsap. I want every Chamber member to truly feel the value of being part of this organization.”

Williams shared that the chamber will continue to host many of its longstanding events while exploring new ways to connect and support the community.

“The chamber will continue many of our beloved annual events, including the Seagull Calling Contest, which we just hosted the 34th Annual over Memorial Day weekend alongside the Mosquito Fleet Festival, and the upcoming 6th Annual Kitsap County Cornhole Classic, a summertime favorite that continues to grow in popularity,” she said. “I’m also proud to continue bringing the National Civics Bee to Kitsap, encouraging civic engagement and inspiring community participation among our youth.”

“Looking ahead, we’re brainstorming new ways to bring the community together through events like outdoor movie nights, comedy shows, and community barbecues, all designed to create more opportunities for connection and fun between South Kitsap businesses and the wider community.”

Williams also highlighted plans to introduce professional development programs and expand collaborative partnerships with local institutions.

“Beyond community-based events, I’m committed to launching new programs that offer valuable resources and tools to help our local businesses thrive,” she said. “This includes introducing professional development programs that address current challenges, expanding collaborative partnerships with the school district and workplace re-entry programs to strengthen workforce pipelines and career readiness, and creating targeted support initiatives, such as mentorship networks, business incubator resources, and access to expert-led workshops.”

“By aligning our efforts with the evolving needs of our members, we can set the stage for long-term sustainability and success for businesses across South Kitsap.”

Reflecting on her new role, Williams said she’s most excited about building relationships and fostering community connection.

“One of the most rewarding aspects of this role is the opportunity to hear your stories, learn from you, and work together to make this region unique and vibrant,” she said. “Whether it’s supporting a new business, celebrating milestones with longtime members, or partnering on community initiatives, I look forward to being an active, friendly, and accessible advocate who helps bring people and ideas together.”

“There’s incredible potential here in South Kitsap, from our dynamic business community to our passionate residents, and I’m honored to help shape a strong, sustainable future for our Chamber and the region we serve.”
