Snowfall and icy roads Feb. 3-6 caused school districts and government offices across Kitsap County to close.
Schools in Bainbridge Island, North Kitsap, South Kitsap, Central Kitsap and Bremerton school districts were closed Feb. 3, with all meetings, field trips and after-school activities canceled. Olympic College campuses in Poulsbo and Bremerton were also closed.
On Feb. 4, BI, NK and CK schools closed again due to similar road conditions. SK and Bremerton schools were on a two-hour delay, as were the OC campuses in Poulsbo and Bremerton.
All of the schools again were closed Feb. 5 due to continued snowfall and icy roads, as were both OC campuses.
Snowfall and icy roads again caused all school districts in Kitsap County to close Feb. 6, as well as both OC campuses in Kitsap.
Weather conditions improved Feb. 7, resulting in NK, CK, SK and Bremerton school districts operating on a delayed start, as well as both OC campuses. BI schools operated on a normal schedule.
The Kitsap County Courthouse and all county offices were on a two-hour delay Feb. 3 and 6, along with the recycling and garbage facilities. City of Poulsbo offices were closed Feb. 3-6, but operated on a two-hour delay Feb. 7.
Offices for the Suquamish and Port Gamble S’Klallam tribes were closed Feb. 3 but operated on a two-hour delay Feb. 4. Suquamish offices were closed Feb. 5 while PGST operated on a two-hour delay. Both tribal offices were closed Feb. 6. Suquamish offices had a delayed start Feb. 7.
City of BI offices opened two hours late Feb. 3-5 but were closed Feb. 6.
The three severe weather shelters in Kitsap are open through Feb. 9. When activated, the Port Orchard and Silverdale shelters are open 6 p.m. to 7 a.m. while the Kingston shelter is open 6:30 p.m. to 6:30 a.m.
