Port Orchard’s Community Service Day rescheduled for April 14

Bad weather expected on Saturday, so plans have been delayed.

PORT ORCHARD — The City of Port Orchard’s Community Service Day on Saturday has been rescheduled due to anticipated rainy conditions on April 7.

The service day, which will center on clean-up work at six community public locations, has been rescheduled for the following Saturday, April 14. The Port Orchard Independent now being distributed was printed prior to the rescheduling.

Volunteers will gather at 9 a.m. to begin work at the following locations:

Bay St. Bistro, 834 Bay St.: Cleanup and landscape lots on both sides of the building;

Clayton (Central) Park, 915 Dwight St.: Spread soil and playground chips;

Annapolis Foot Ferry Dock: Beach clean-up;

Etta Turner Park, 1309 Bay St.: Spread bark and pull weeds;

South Kitsap Helpline, 1012 Mitchell Ave.: Prep work in outdoor beds;

Sidney Glen Elementary, 500 SW Birch Rd.: Spread bark and playground chips.

City officials urge resident volunteers to pick a project, then bring their gloves and tools to their selected location.
