Silverdale Way coffee stand robbed at gunpoint

Urban City Brew Company Owner Hercules Hubbell said the woman who ambushed an employee after approaching the coffee stand on foot around 4:45 p.m. Tuesday, likely knew that the stand — located just outside of Poulsbo — was getting ready to close down for the day.

“We close at 5 [p.m.] and our girl was working alone,” Hubbell said describing the surveillance video capturing the event. “You can kind of see out of the corner of her eye she saw someone at the order window and she went to go over there, then all of a sudden two hands come in the window.”

In one of her hands, Hubbell said, the woman was holding a gun as she demanded the employee quickly hand over the money from the till. The employee described the individual as a 5-foot-5-inch tall, white female with a medium-to-heavy build, wearing a black hoodie and a mask.

According to Hubbell, after the visibly shaken employee finished handing over the money, the woman said, “Good girl,” before walking away.

Sergeant Ken Dickinson with the Kitsap County Sheriff’s Office said deputies arrived at the scene quickly after the woman left the scene. A K-9 search of the area and officer interviews with individuals thought to be involved did not result in any significant information related to the robbery at Urban City Brew.

In an interview on Wednesday, Hubbell said he was more concerned for the safety and peace of mind of his employees than the financial loss from the robbery — which he estimated to be around $500.

“You just kind of feel violated, now I have to figure out how I’m going to make them feel safe,” the owner said. Hubbell added that he would be installing more robust security features at the stand, with additional surveillance cameras and outdoor lighting.

Dickinson said anyone with information related to the robbery are encouraged to contact Kitsap County Sheriff’s Detective Jennifer Rice by phone at 360-337-4649, or by email at jerice@co.kitsap.wa.us.
