The Silverdale Rotary Club recently announced that one of their 15-foot inflatable ducks, Waddles, was stolen from the parking lot at Advantage Nissan in Bremerton.

The duck played a prominent role in publicizing the annual Silverdale Rotary Duck Race, which has raised over $1.6 million. The cost to replace the duck is being valued at $2,000. The Silverdale Rotary Club stated that this is a significant loss of marketing, which will greatly affect their ticket sales.

The lack of ticket sales will impact service organizations in Kitsap County that help feed homeless teens, provide shelter for victims of domestic violence, and promote literacy and education, according to a release from the Silverdale Rotary Club.

“While we understand the humor behind a missing 15-foot duck named Waddles, it doesn’t diminish the monetary effect its theft has on the community,” said Silverdale Rotary Club President Christie Scheffer.

Rotarians Brian and Barbara Beagle will donate five Duck Quack Packs, or 25 tickets, to anyone who provides information that may lead to the recovery of Waddles.

Anyone with information regarding the whereabouts of Waddles the duck is asked to contact the Bremerton Police Department or email the Silverdale Rotary Club at
