Shelter in place warning lifted for Newberry Hill gas leak

A shelter in place advisory has been lifted in the vicinity of Newberry Hill Road and Tieton Place NW in Central Kitsap after a gas leak occurred Tuesday morning when a one-inch gas line was hit by an excavator, according to Central Kitsap Fire & Rescue.

At 11:52 a.m., the Kitsap County Department of Emergency Management sent out an emergency message telling nearby residents and workers to shelter in place until the gas leak was lifted. Around 1:30 p.m., CKF&R tweeted out that the gas leak had been secured by Cascade Natural Gas, lifting the shelter in place advisory for nearby residents.
