Severe weather shelters will be open Monday

The severe weather shelters are for anyone in the area who requires safe overnight refuge where none is available.

Due to expected below freezing temperatures, the Kitsap County Department of Emergency Management will activate the county’s Severe Weather Shelter Plan.

There are currently two shelter locations in the county. Both shelters will open Monday night, Dec. 1, until Tuesday morning, Dec. 2. Hours of operation will be from 6 p.m. until 7 a.m. each night.

Guests will not be able to check into the shelter after 10 p.m.

The locations are Bremerton Foodline, 1600 12th St., Bremerton and North Kitsap Fire & Rescue, 26642 Miller Bay Road NE, Kingston.

The severe weather shelters are for anyone in the area who requires safe overnight refuge where none is available.

Further activations will be weather dependent. For more information about the process, call 211 or call the Bremerton Food Line at 360-479-6188.
