Dumb and dumber

A woman called police at about 1 p.m. June 4 to turn in her friend who was currently wanted by sheriff’s deputies.

A deputy went to a 28-year-old man’s home in the 9300 block of Central Valley Road NW in East Bremerton. He told the deputy she was not there and hadn’t seen her for a while. The deputy said she had a warrant and if he found her there he would be arrested too.

The deputy phoned the original caller who said the 21-year-old woman was definitely at the house. He then called the wanted person’s mother at the original caller’s request. The mother said her daughter was just dropped off at the man’s house.

About 30 minutes later, the mother called 911 to report that her daughter text messaged her saying she had a weapon and was going to kill herself because the police were looking for her at the man’s house.

The deputy returned to the house and the man still refused entry, but the woman eventually came out of the house.

She was arrested and booked into jail for outstanding warrants. The man was arrested and booked into jail for rendering criminal assistance. Both were later released.

Just not his day

A deputy observed a white Chevrolet pickup truck break various traffic laws at 7:30 p.m. June 12 on various roads in Silverdale. Violations included following too closely, passing unlawfully, improper lane use, failure to signal turns, speeding and failing to stop at a posted stop sign.

The deputy pulled over the 44-year-old East Bremerton driver at the intersection of NW Schold Place and Schold Road NW in Silverdale. The deputy smelled alcohol on the man’s breath and he admitted to drinking four beers. He blew a .164 on a Breathalyzer test at the county jail.

A corrections officer searched the man before booking him into jail and found a small baggie of marijuana in his pants pocket.

He was arrested and booked into jail for DUI, second-degree driving with a suspended license, reckless driving, violation of a vehicle ignition interlock requirement and violation of the Uniformed Controlled Substance Act: possession of marijuana. He was later released.
