Sailor found dead on Stennis

BREMERTON — A sailor died onboard the USS John C. Stennis on Nov. 25 while the ship was in port at Naval Base Kitsap — Bremerton, the Navy reported.

An investigation is underway to determine Engineman Fireman Recruit Akiree Pointer’s cause of death, the Navy reported. His previous commands include the Naval Recruit Training Center in Great Lakes, Illinois. He wasa recipient of the National Defense Service Medal.
