Robert Niles | Passages

SOUTH KITSAP — Bob Niles passed away Oct. 24. He was 62.

Bob was born on Feb. 14, 1954, the son of Helyn Hagele and Robert Niles, M.D. He was raised in Port Allegany, Pennsylvania. He attended Union High School, graduated from Indiana University-Pennsylvania with a BS in biology, and later received his mechanical engineering degree from Pennsylvania State University in 1978.

Bob married Dr. Catherine (Katie) Waal. He is survived by his wife, daughters Erin and Jessica, his sister Karen Crichton, his brother Dr. Michael Niles, and many nieces and nephews.

As a young man, Bob enjoyed hunting and golfing in his native Pennsylvania but later came to enjoy gardening, hiking, cooking, volunteering at his daughters’ schools, playing Spider Solitaire, and spending time with all of his friends. He is fondly remembered for his wonderful sense of humor and devotion to his family.

Those wishing to remember Bob may contribute to the American Liver Foundation in his honor. Friends are also asked to consider registering as an organ donor. No matter your age, you are never too old to register as a donor.
