Residential fires close some SK roads

Three residential blazes tax SKFR crews; neighboring agencies also respond

PORT ORCHARD — Four South Kitsap-area roads were temporarily closed due to high winds and house fires Tuesday night.

South Kitsap Fire and Rescue crews were dispatched to three separate fires in the southern part of the county last night. Homes at the 11800 block of Banner Road Southeast in Olalla, 10200 block of Orchard Avenue Southeast in Port Orchard and at the 1700 block of Sidney Avenue, also in Port Orchard, were reported on fire, with crews sent to extinguish the blazes.

As a result, sections of four streets were temporarily closed due to downed trees and power lines, SKFR reported Tuesday morning. The roadways closed were:

  • Orchard Avenue Southeast between Fragaria Road Southeast and Black Road Southeast;
  • Banner Road Southeast between Fragaria Road Southeast and Millihanna Road Southeast;
  • Willock Road Southeast between Banner Road Southeast and Orchard Avenue Southeast;
  • Fagerud Road Southeast between Burley Olalla Road Southeast and Cedar Glen Lane Southeast.

SKFR said Tuesday morning that power company utility crews had been notified of the downed lines and were responding.

No injuries were reported by SKFR in the fires. Two of the calls were classified as two-alarm residential structure fires.
