A 43-year-old University Place man is facing vehicular homicide charges after hitting and killing a 77-year-old Poulsbo man with his vehicle June 2 at the intersection of Highway 305 and George Lane in between Suquamish and Poulsbo.

Per a Washington State Patrol incident report, Steve McAbee was standing in the center turn lane on Hwy 305 just south of George Lane. He then crossed the center line and was struck by a Scion xD driven by the 43-year-old man. McAbee was pronounced dead at Harborview Medical Center in Seattle.

WSP is investigating the incident, and the agency said drugs or alcohol are suspected to be factors in the collision.
