A 22-year-old Poulsbo man has been identified as the victim of a fatal collision on Illahee Road Monday morning.

Jacob Cory Ninemire was pronounced dead at the scene on the 7600 block of Illahee Road. Officials with the Kitsap County Sheriff’s Office said Ninemire had been traveling eastbound when he appeared to lose control of the vehicle due to icy road conditions, entering the oncoming lane. The Volkswagen Jetta driven by Ninemire struck a Chevrolet Silverado pickup truck after the truck’s brakes locked up.

The driver of the Silverado and his 3-year-old son were not injured in the collision. Officials with the Kitsap County Sheriff’s Office said all of the occupants in the vehicles were wearing seat belts at the time of the crash and investigating officers did not believe that impairment from intoxicants were a factor in the collision.
