The Poulsbo City Council once again agreed to extend the downtown streatery program until either paid parking goes into effect or Front Street improvements are made.
The council voted 4-1 in favor of extending the streateries, with Councilmember Doug Newell voting against, citing public safety concerns. Councilmembers Britt Livdahl and Doug Taber were not present at the meeting.
“I remain concerned about reducing the width of our busiest sidewalks,” Newell said.
The streatery concept was created in 2020 to support businesses during the COVID pandemic. There are currently three downtown businesses providing the use, including Details Wine Bar, Slippery Pig Brewery and State 42 Wines. Currently, parking stall space is $160 per month and sidewalk fee use is $60 per month. The renewal fee is $100. If paid parking goes into effect, city staff will return to discuss an adjustment of rates to obtain “fair market value,” per city documents.
