The Port Orchard Post Office will sponsor its annual food drive to help benefit South Kitsap Helpline on Saturday, Nov. 2.

Donations of non-perishable food can be left by mailboxes or letter carriers to pick up.

Last year, SK Helpline distributed 79,835 pounds of food to local children, adults and seniors in need, according to Jennifer Hardison, executive director of SK Helpline.

“As we head into the holidays, based on last year’s numbers we are estimating that more than 14,000 local individuals will receive holiday food from us in November and December,” said Hardison. “That is in addition to the regular food baskets we provide.”

Donations can also be made online at www.skhelpline.org and click the “Donate Now” button.

For more information about the food bank, call 360-876-4089. SK Helpline is located at 1012 Mitchell Ave., Port Orchard.
