Port Orchard man arrested for possession of heroin

After a lengthy investigation, Bremerton Police officers and deputies arrested a Port Orchard man for possession of heroin and of a handgun.

The adult male was arrested after a multi-agency team obtained a search warrant and conducted a search of his residence. A search warrant had been obtained by the team and it was served to the suspect at 5:15 a.m. on March 18.

When the search warrant was served by the Kitsap County SWAT team, the residents of the house were ordered out and were taken into custody. One man was subsequently arrested and jailed on multiple felony charges, according to Bremerton police.

The search uncovered 22.4 grams of heroin, $4,670 in cash and a firearm. Bremerton police said the handgun and cash had been tossed into an air duct sometime before the suspects left the house. The house resident is a convicted felon, and because possession of a handgun is a crime, he was also charged forthat offense.

The heroin seized appears to be a type that is laced with Fentanyl, which is a very potent synthetic chemical that makes the heroin much more potent, and would cause users to have a much higher risk of overdose, said Steve Strachan, Bremerton police chief.

“Every community is seeing the effects of more heroin use, and we will continue to work with our partners to reduce the supply and educate the public about the higher risks associated with this very dangerous drug,” Strachan said.  After a lengthy investigation, Bremerton Police officers and deputies arrested a Port Orchard man for possession of heroin and of a handgun.
