Port Orchard Eagles donate $6,000 to SK Helpline

Money helped pay for holiday baskets and toys

PORT ORCHARD — A $6,000 donation by the Port Orchard Eagles to support South Kitsap Helpline’s food bank came about because of efforts by members through several programs and events, said Eagles spokesman Ken Bicha.

The Eagles provided holiday baskets at Thanksgiving and Christmas, as well as presents for children.

Also, the Friday Barstool Bingo group generated $2,000 with the July car show, and the Thursday and Saturday Texas Hold ‘Em groups donated $1,000. The Christmas in August events also contributed to the remainder of the donation amount.

“The Port Orchard Eagles do so much for our agency and those we serve,” said Jennifer Hardison, Helpline’s executive director.

”They host food drives, fund-raise for us throughout the year and they are a huge part of our holiday programs, especially for our Giving Tree — and they always make the best Christmas elves.”
