Police investigate threat at John Sedgwick Junior High

Students cleared out of John Sedgwick when a potential bomb threat became known to the administration.

Students cleared out of John Sedgwick Junior High this morning (March 24) when the administration became aware of a potential bomb threat at the school.

Law enforcement was called, and after they gave the OK, students re-entered the school and classes resumed.

The following message was sent out to parents of students at the school by John Sedgwick’s principal:

Good Afternoon,

This morning, John Sedgwick administration became aware of a message written on school property indicating a possible threat to student and staff safety. Because the message indicated potential harm, students and staff were evacuated from the building at approximately 10:55 am. Law enforcement was contacted to assist with a search of the building. After searching and determining the threat was not credible, law enforcement gave permission to reenter the building and resume teaching and learning.

John Sedgwick Junior High and the South Kitsap School District take all potential threats to student and staff safety seriously. We will continue to work with law enforcement to investigate this incident.

Dan Novick

The school district emphasized that the threat was not credible.
