Select Kitsap Transit bus routes for Port Orchard, Silverdale and Poulsbo riders have officially begun offering Sunday service as of June 16.
Agency leaders note that riders now have connections available all the way from Port Orchard to Poulsbo any day of the week with the inclusion of Sunday runs of the Port Orchard-Bremerton Foot Ferry route. Sunday service remains free on the routed buses and the foot ferry through the end of this year.
The launch of Phase 2 in plans to revive Sunday service was delayed multiple times while the transit agency sought to improve recruitment efforts for bus operators and reevaluated investments tied to the Climate Commitment Act. Phase 2 had originally been scheduled to roll out before the end of 2023 after Bremerton and Silverdale’s Route 217 bus was given its Sunday runs Sept. 24, 2023.
South Kitsap riders can now use Port Orchard’s Route 8 – Bethel bus running from the downtown ferry dock with stops at Walmart, Fred Meyer, First Lutheran Park & Ride and South Kitsap High School, among others. Runs are every half hour from 8 a.m. to 4:25 p.m.
Route 332 – Poulsbo/Ridgetop has also been launched between the Silverdale Transit Center and the North Viking Transit Center. The route will originate from Silverdale and will run every hour from 8:30 a.m. to 4:25 p.m.
KT is also noting that Route 332 is scheduled to be rerouted from the new transit center near Highway 303 on June 24.
